MISSION

Founded in 2010, the Little Bulgarian School in Chicago’s (LBSC) mission is to empower the Bulgarian community in the Chicago region through high-quality pre-K to 12 education in Bulgarian language, culture, and heritage. By utilizing innovative teaching approaches, bilingual instruction, vibrant events, and active community engagement, LBSC is dedicated to safeguarding Bulgarian traditions, reinforcing the Bulgarian identity among the diaspora, and nurturing a deep connection for current and future generations. All educational programs are certified by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science, and students receive equivalent tutoring in Bulgarian language and history for their respective grades in the Bulgarian school system.

In 2019, LBSC founded the Little Bulgaria Cultural Center to create an inclusive and creative environment for established and informal organizations that further engage and empower the Bulgarian community.

In 2023, LBSC received certification from the Illinois State Board of Education and opened the Bulgarian Academy of Languages, an elementary day-school with an inaugural class of 6 kindergarteners.

VISION

The vision of the Little Bulgarian School in Chicago is to grow and evolve its educational programs and further solidify its place as a pillar of the Bulgarian community in the Chicago area. LBSC’s goal is to continue to improve the curriculum, expand extracurricular activities, and ensure state-of-the-art bilingual education.
