The Little Bulgarian School in Chicago provides a range of educational programs in its Sunday schools that are approved by the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria and the Illinois State Board of Education. These programs cater to children (2-4 years old), students (5-18 years old), and adults (over 18 years old), and are aligned with the educational standards of both countries. The school uses an individual approach based on age and language competence, which leads to the development of a specific methodology to meet the needs of each learner.

The Bulgarian Academy of Languages is an elementary school from Pre-K to 5th grade, licensed by the Illinois State Board of Education. It runs from Monday to Friday at the Little Bulgaria Center in Des Plaines. At the Bulgarian Academy of Languages, the students are immersed in an inclusive, supportive community that will challenge them to reach their full potential and improve. Our rigorous academic program is designed to help students become good leaders who care for their communities and succeed.

The Little Bulgaria Center is situated in the heart of Des Plaines, IL. The building was acquired through the collaborative efforts of the Bulgarian-American community. Since its establishment in 2019, the Little Bulgaria Center has been serving as a hub for Bulgarians in the Chicago area. It houses formal and informal organizations, schools, and sports clubs, and hosts numerous cultural events.
seal of biliteracy
The Seal of Biliteracy program is a valuable resource for students proficient in the Bulgarian language, as it encourages biliteracy and significantly enriches their college applications. LBSC has been conducting a 10-week high-level preparatory course twice a year during the fall and spring semesters since 2017. The students participate in a weekly 3-hour class at the Des Plaines location, where they receive instruction from 2 licensed teachers. The program emphasizes exam readiness and preparation and is conducted entirely in Bulgarian. The teachers are taking a personal educational approach depending on the preparedness level of each student.
